“∞”雖然是一個數(shù)學符號,卻在神學、哲學、數(shù)學和日常生活中有著多元而豐富的概念。當英國人John Wallis將8水平置放成”∞”,并闡述了數(shù)學中“無窮大”這一概念時,大約2500年前的印度已經(jīng)對這一概念有了記載。

Although “∞” is a mathematical symbol, it has diverse and rich concepts in theology, philosophy, mathematics and daily life. When the British John Wallis placed the 8 levels as “∞” and explained the concept of “infinity” in mathematics, this concept was already recorded in India about 2500 years ago.

2019年7月的第二屆平遙國際雕塑節(jié)上,來自世界范圍內(nèi)的數(shù)十位藝術家以雕塑為引領,呈現(xiàn)了一場極具張力的藝術盛宴,這是Tony Brown的雕塑作品《∞》首次出現(xiàn)在公眾視野中。2020年夏末,尺寸數(shù)倍于平遙國際雕塑節(jié)的《∞》落地西安歐亞學院校園,一場關于東方與西方,傳統(tǒng)與現(xiàn)代,人文與自然的探討在更大眾的范圍展開。

At the 2nd Pingyao International Sculpture Festival in July 2019, dozens of artists from all over the world led by sculpture, presenting a powerful artistic feast. This is the first time for Tony Brown’s sculpture “∞” Appeared in public view. At the end of the summer of 2020, “∞”, which is several times the size of the Pingyao International Sculpture Festival, landed on the campus of Xi’an Eurasia University. A discussion about the East and the West, tradition and modernity, and humanities and nature was launched in a wider range.

融合 FUSION

在談及這座耗時一年多,經(jīng)過Tony Brown、歐亞學院及奕木藝術多方努力完成的雕塑作品《∞》時,Tony Brown給出的關鍵詞是“融合”?!丁蕖肥墙ㄖW、園林藝術、雕塑藝術的融合,也是堅硬材料與流暢曲線、平整板面的融合。它試圖表達作品與環(huán)境的關聯(lián),利用每一個空洞關系去詮釋無限符號的無限概念。Tony Brown認為作品能夠與人產(chǎn)生互動性非常重要,當人們可以坐在上面聊天,可以站在上面拍照時,人與作品、作品與樹木、人與環(huán)境之間的互動會構(gòu)成一種全新而和諧的融合。

When talking about this sculpture “∞”, which took more than a year and was completed by Tony Brown, Xi’an Eurasia University and Yimu Art, the key word given by Tony Brown is “fusion”. “∞” is a fusion of architecture, garden art, and sculpture art. It is also a fusion of hard materials, smooth curves and flat surfaces. It attempts to express the connection between the work and the environment, using every empty relationship to interpret the infinite concept of infinite symbols. Tony Brown believes that it is very important for works to interact with people. When people can sit on it and chat, stand on it and take pictures, the interaction between people and works, works and trees, and people and the environment will constitute a new and harmonious interaction.

超越 BEYOND

從平遙國際雕塑節(jié)的展覽小稿,到歐亞學院的大型雕塑,奕木藝術配合Tony Brown完成《∞》全部作品的二次深化、制作及安裝工作。面對不同空間的展示效果和需求,奕木藝術思考了不同呈現(xiàn)形式及差別化的工藝細節(jié),從而確保作品在不同空間最佳的呈現(xiàn)形態(tài)。

From the exhibition drafts of the Pingyao International Sculpture Festival to the large-scale sculptures of Xi’an Eurasia University,Yimu Art cooperated with Tony Brown to complete the secondary deepening, production and installation of all works of “∞”. Faced with the display effects and needs of different spaces, Yimu Art considered different presentation forms and differentiated craft details to ensure the best presentation form of the works in different spaces.

《∞》在工藝層面的難點主要有兩方面,一是極高的準確性要求,由于整體雕塑形體超出成品耐候鋼板既有規(guī)格,為保證造型曲線的流暢度,實現(xiàn)無縫拼接后板面的平整,對公差精度的考究顯得尤為重要;二是作品的表面涂裝,作品需要在安裝完成后于戶外進行涂裝作業(yè),選擇有利天氣非常關鍵,而啞光涂料無法打磨必須一次成型,這無一不加大了施工難度。

The difficulty of “∞” at the technical level is mainly in two aspects. One is the extremely high accuracy requirement. Because the overall sculpture shape exceeds the existing specifications of the finished weathering steel plate, in order to ensure the smoothness of the modeling curve, the seamless splicing of the surface Smoothness is particularly important for tolerance accuracy; the second is the surface painting of the work. The work needs to be painted outdoors after the installation is completed. It is very important to choose favorable weather, and the matte paint cannot be polished and must be molded in one time. One does not increase the difficulty of construction.

此次奕木藝術與Tony Brown、歐亞學院的合作,傳達了以超越常規(guī)的思維模式突破傳統(tǒng)形態(tài)多樣化演變的理念,通過“尺度”與“場域”的概念,構(gòu)建了一個充滿哲思且富有價值的人文作品。藉由藝術橋梁,奕木藝術鏈接中西方藝術家與商業(yè)市場,不斷進行城市公共藝術文化的探索和踐行,創(chuàng)造了藝術與城市的無限可能。

The cooperation between Yimu Art and Tony Brown and Xi’an Eurasia University conveyed the concept of breaking through the diversified evolution of traditional forms with a thinking mode that goes beyond the conventional. Through the concept of “scale” and “field”, it has constructed a philosophy full of philosophical thinking. And valuable humanities works.
