Nanjing Jiangbei Wondercity Shopping Center was officially completed and opened with the debut of three huge water curtains created by CRAZYWATER, which broke the world records of the highest linear water curtain.
The total construction area of the project is approximately 380,000 square meters, of which the above-ground construction area is approximately 224,000 square meters and the underground construction area is approximately 156,000 square meters. Different from the previous Wondercity in Nanjing, Jiangbei Wondercity contains more of a meaning of filling the commercial gap in the neighborhood.
CRAZYWATER was invited to participate in the water feature project of Jiangbei Wondercity, aiming to create a symbolic landmark connecting indoor and outdoor with water as its medium.
The water feature design continues the overall architecture concept of Jiangbei Wondercity: it has a trendy and simple appearance, while introducing the cultural symbols of Nanjing's Old City into Jiangbei New City.
The central fountain design is located in the center of the gathering square in Jiangbei Wondercity City, forming a cornucopia effect. The waterfront stage with the musical fountain is not only the focal point of the project, but also the popular drainage design.
The waterfall runs through the whole building facade, reproducing the unique landscape of "dragon spit water". "Dragon spit water" is a wonder of Nanjing Ming City Wall, which has a history of more than 600 years. It was created when the rainwater needed to be discharged from the drainage system or the drainage gap formed by the water flow, which especially spectacular in the "dragon neck" section of Taiping Gate. The water curtains fall down the facade of the building, combined with brick pavement on the outer wall of the simulated city wall, which recreates this cultural symbol with Nanjing characteristics.
At the same time, the use of high and low levels of the three water curtains can also simulate the natural waterfall in the forest that people will have a return to nature of affinity. The water nozzles are arranged irregularly, making the effect of the waterfall more real.
The highlight of Jiangbei Wondercity is three huge water curtains, which are 36 meters, 29 meters and 24 meters high, breaking the world record for linear water curtain height. When the exquisite and translucent water drops fall from the sky along the transparent polyester tape, it creates a dreamlike architectural space. From the height of 36 meters, the water drops shine under the ever-changing lights and shadows, just like crystals on a bead curtain.
Behind a breakthrough of a record, there are meticulous design thoughts, comprehensive co-ordinations, and continuous efforts. CRAZYWATER, is always adherent to the pursuit of perfection through our journey
